Tamegroute pottery is a distinct, hand crafted ceramic made exclusively in yhe village of Tamegroute in southern Morroco, near the edge of the Sahara desert.
It features a rich, glaze created from a secret blend containing copper and local minerals. Each piece has visible flaws and raw imperfections, bubbles, cracks, and rustic textures.
Most items bear three distinct kiln marks on the surface from where pieces touched or rested during stacking in the fire. Artisans use local terra-cotta clay gathered from the nearby Draa River valley. It is a tradition passed down through families for many generations.
